The Japan Weather Association published its first cherry blossom forecast of the season on the 6th of February. According to their forecast, the cherry blossoms are expected to open earlier than average compared to the past years due to the projected warm weather this spring. They predicted these delicate flowers will bloom on 21st March in Tokyo and 23rd March in Kyoto. Cherry blossom season is a peak season in Tokyo and many hotels can book out months in advance, especially good hotels in desirable areas.

Apartment Hotel Shinjuku is a budget hotel I stayed in when I visited Japan back in 2018. I would like to introduce this accommodation to my friends because it is only 2 minutes walk from the Shinjukusanchome train station and approximately 13 minutes to Shinjuku Gyoen National Park. This funky Japanese Inn was rebuilt in the early '70s and then renovated in 2010 to become the hotel today. The entire interior has been changed, while some '70s period Japanese building's characteristics have been retained until now. Each room has a significant design to accommodate different guests. This peculiar apartment is not just a hotel, but it is also a building to host a pop-up shop, lounge space, live event, and even an art exhibition. The entry is decorated with rustic minimalist industrial furniture. The room is efficient, the bed is comfortable. Great industrial art pieces were hanging on the wall which is my favorite. It is definitely a cozy place for backpackers on a budget due to its convenient location.
